How did the Fa Niente Luxury Social Club start?

A few years ago we decided that we needed to change our lives. Our busy careers as a Neuropsychologist and Industrial Psychology Consultant left us very little time for having fun.  Sure there was always dinner and movie on the weekends, maybe a charity gala here and there and then there was always the movie rental and couch to look forward to. Although these choices were easy because they required no time to prepare, they were no longer fun. We had settled on routine entertainment.

We really enjoy having new experiences that merge the finest in arts, culture, entertainment and the luxury of high-end living, but we just could not find what we wanted in Ottawa. We needed to change the way we lived in order to find and enjoy more of these experiences.

Our lifestyle change started by out-sourcing tasks like groundskeeping and house cleaning. We then moved to hiring a personal assistant (P.A.) to deal with household management and to help us add more fun to our lives.  Our P.A. was great at administering our affairs but she just couldn’t plan the caliber of fun we were looking for. So we handed off more administrative work to her and we took over planning our fun.

We knew we couldn’t be the only ones who were looking for new and luxurious ways to have fun. So we started planning luxurious events on our own and with our friends. We tried dinner parties with private chefs, helicopter tours, tutored wine tastings, spa days, fly-in metropolis shopping trips, parties with ambassadors, art shows, and even fashion shows. Everything we tried, we enjoyed, and so did our friends. That’s when we knew we had to open up these experiences to more people who felt the same way, people looking for new and luxurious ways to have fun with other like-minded people...and that’s how the Fa Niente Luxury Social Club was started.
